It has been said that any given individual is the average of their five closest friends. Not only in thinking, but also in personality. Now it's hard to say if this is actually true because there are some personalities who absolutely hang around other people who are dissimilar to them on purpose. However, I would say to you that generally this theory probably holds true for most individuals.
But what if you had nine very close friends instead of five and what if I stood them up in a row and we analyzed each of these nine friends, and tried to find idiosyncrasies, or personality traits which actually matched your own? Would I be able to do that? Perhaps that's an important question, and one you should ask yourself. And if you were to stand in line with eight others all being friends of a given individual could you look at them and explain what traits that you and they both have a similarity.

Could you also looking at the other eight find traits in them, which could also be found in the one? I would submit to you that you can. And I would submit that it makes sense to hold someone up before their nine closest peers when judging someone. Does this also work in online social networking? That is debatable, but yes, perhaps it does also stand up to that test.
After all, people sign up to be your friend because they see something about you that reminds them of themselves, something that reinforces themselves which makes them want to associate with you in some way. Perhaps you've indicated that you like a certain type of song, or that you have a certain hobby, or that perhaps you are very good looking and they just wanted to be your friend based on the picture you presented.
Maybe inside they feel like that is something they want to be, good looking, or have pleasurable features to the opposite sex, or maybe even the same sex, I don't know you. Perhaps they have similar political views, or join with you in a common cause of activism for something. I'd like you to please consider all this, and think on it.
